Gronau (Leine) is situated in Lower Saxony, to the south of Hannover. The town has a population of about 10000. In May 2018, we visited Gronau to celebrate 30 years of partnership with our twin town. This included an exchange of gifts between the Mayor of Honiton and the Mayor of Gronau, followed by the formal signing of a charter to mark the 30th anniversary (see photograph.)
The following year we received a return visit from our friends in Gronau.
After a lull in activity because of the pandemic, we returned to Gronau in August 2023 for the annual Weinfest.
We are looking forward to receiving the next visit from our friends in Gronau sometime in 2025.
OUR TWIN TOWNS
Mezidon-Canon is a small town in Normandy. It is less than an hour's drive from the coastal city of Caen. It is situated in the Calvados region of Normandy and has a population of some 5000.
In 2013, members of Honiton Twinning Association travelled to Mezidon to celebrate the 40th anniversary of our partnership. The photograph shows the planting of a tree to mark the occasion.
Our most recent visit was in May 2024, this time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our twinning link. Mezidon has also been twinned with Gronau since 1973, making it a three-way partnership.
